Young Sherlock, Lovecraftian monsters, and thick fog in the first gameplay trailer for the remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened
The first gameplay trailer for the remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened was published on the YouTube Channel of the Ukrainian studio Frogwares.
Initially the game was released as a detective quest in 2006, but the developers from Frogwares significantly revised the gameplay, and now the game is an action-adventure, but the dark detective atmosphere is the same as the complex puzzles.
Here's What We Know
The new version of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will be different from the original, it concerns both gameplay mechanics and story content. The developers even promise a slightly different ending.
The gameplay of the updated detective is usual for modern games of such genre: the young Sherlock Holmes and his loyal assistant Dr. Watson walk around different locations, talk to minor characters, examine the crime scene and occasionally come into confrontation, up to the use of firearms.
The game is based not only on Arthur Conan Doyle's literary work, but also on elements of Howard P. Lovecraft's work.
The remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is based on the Unreal Engine 4, which offers high-quality but not revolutionary graphics.
When We Can Expect It
The project is scheduled for release in February 2023 on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
