Xbox head agrees with Redfall's criticism, is sad about the situation and accepts some of the blame
After Vampires failed to impress: the release of Redfall has taken place. The co-op shooter has received the lowest scores in Arkane Studios' history, a reaction from Microsoft and Bethesda management was expected, and it has followed.
Here's What We Know
Xbox brand manager Phil Spencer has given his first comments on the failure of the co-op shooter Redfall, which was heard on the Kinda Funny Games podcast.
Phil Spencer stated that he is disappointed and unhappy with the situation and that he primarily blames himself.
Nothing hurts me more than disappointing the Xbox community. Seeing the community lose confidence upsets me and makes me angry at myself...
The head of Xbox has said he wants to "get back into the process", which could mean more control by Microsoft over the work of internal studios. However, Spencer doesn't blame the developers for everything:
We haven't done a very good job with Arkane Austin to really help them understand what it means to be part of Xbox, and use some of our internal resources to help them get on that path.
Phil Spencer takes all the criticism about Redfall's boring gameplay, the state of the game at release and the unfulfilled promises (lack of 60FPS), and promises that his team will work on the bugs and not disappoint fans of their games in the future.
