BioWare will hand over support for Star Wars: The Old Republic to Broadsword Online Games and can concentrate entirely on development of the new Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles
RPG fans have been waiting for years for the new Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles from the legendary BioWare studio.
In addition to these two projects, the company paid much attention to the development and support for multiplayer role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic, which did not allow to fully focus on single-player games.
Now, the Canadian developers will have more time to work on the sequels of Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
Here's What We Know
According to IGN, Electronic Arts has signed a long-term deal with Broadsword Online Games, known for such MMORPGs as Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot.
This team, led by former BioWare vice president Rob Denton, will take on further support for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
It's worth noting that the new team is perfectly suited to work on the game for several reasons at once:
- Rob Denton was involved in the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic and knows all its nuances.
- Broadsword Online Games will bring forty experienced BioWare employees into the fold to bring their colleagues up to speed.
- The studio has tremendous experience in multiplayer game development and knows exactly how to develop them.
In return, BioWare will have the opportunity to concentrate on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
