Star Wars Outlaws developer explains why the game takes place between the fifth and sixth episodes of the films
Star Wars Outlaws has become one of the most discussed games after the presentation of Ubisoft Forward. We have already been shown an 11-minute trailer that demonstrates the gameplay and main characters of this story. And now Massive Entertainment, the game developer, is actively sharing more details about its open-world project.
Here's What We Know
Massive Entertainment's creative director Julian Gerighty said that the game takes place between the fifth and sixth episodes of the films. The reason for this choice is that there is a lull in the Rebellion between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. And this time is ideal for the prosperity of not only the Empire but also the criminal organisations of the Outer Ring, which suits the protagonist of the game, Kay Vess, who is constantly going on risky (rarely legal) adventures.
Flashback
Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world game developed by the authors of The Division (Massive Entertainment) and published by Ubisoft. The story is not about a Jedi, but focuses on Kay Wess, an ordinary girl who constantly wants to get into a situation and emerge victorious. Her main goal is a large-scale robbery, after which she will be able to feel what a normal life is. She will be travelling with her cute animal Nix and the BX-commando droid.
Players will be able to travel to both familiar and new locations in the Far Galaxy. The game will feature stealth mechanics, but if something goes wrong, you can always use a blaster and destroy all enemies. The developers also promise a choice system that will affect the reputation of Kay.
When We Can Expect It
Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release in 2024 on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
