Swedish holding company Embracer Group has begun a major reorganisation of the workflow of its studios to make them more efficient. Some studios will be closed, some games cancelled

Swedish holding company Embracer Group, which includes numerous game studios, has announced a restructuring.

Here's What We Know

As part of the workflow reorganisation, Embracer Group plans to undertake a number of immediate measures:

  • reduce the staffing of some of its offices;
  • assess the efficiency of the studios;
  • close unprofitable studios;
  • cancel the development of a number of games with low projected revenues (with the names of the studios and games not yet disclosed);
  • Embracer Group will reduce its activities as a publisher, focusing only on games from its studios.

Probably the main reason for such sweeping changes was the sharp drop (about 40%) in the Swedish giant's share price.

By the end of the current fiscal year (until 31 March 2024), the reorganisation of Embracer Group is planned to be completed.

Flashback

Embracer Group now has more than 850 franchises, 138 game studios worldwide and 221 games in development.
