A long and complicated story: Remedy said that it will take about 20 hours to complete Alan Wake 2

Thomas Puha, Director of Communications at Remedy Entertainment, answered some questions related to Alan Wake 2. Now we know how long it will take to complete the game.

Here's What We Know

Alan Wake 2 features two stories that we will have to play through. The first one tells the story of Saga Anderson, a new character from the FBI who has to solve a series of crimes. The second story is about the old familiar Alan Wake. According to Thomas, it will take about 20 hours to complete the game, but this time may vary depending on the player's skills and familiarity with the survival-horror genre.

It is also known that players will be able to switch between the main characters immediately after the prologue, when they are introduced to the Saga. So it's up to you to choose the sequence in which you want to follow the stories of FBI agent and writer Alan. However, it is worth remembering that the missions that you complete as Alan will not be available for Anderson and vice versa, as each character has their own arc that gradually intertwines.

For comparison, the first part of Alan Wake can be completed twice as fast - in 10 hours.

Flashback

In the American town of Bright Falls, where it all began, a series of ritualistic murders are taking place. To get to the bottom of this case, Saga Anderson, an FBI agent, arrives at the scene and finds herself caught up in a nightmare story created by Alan. Remedy stated that this will be their first full-fledged survival-horror with a tense atmosphere and psychedelic moments.

When We Can Expect It

Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 17, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
