Sonic Origins fans unhappy with sound quality of upcoming Sonic Origins Plus expansion pack
Recently, footage from Sonic Origins Plus was leaked online and some fans began to express their strong dissatisfaction with what they heard.
Here's What We Know
Sonic Origins Plus is an expansion pack for Sonic Origins that includes all 12 Sonic games ever released on the Game Gear. However, footage of some of these games has been previously published on the Internet and some users have pointed out that the audio sounds strange. In particular, the audio has an echoing effect, almost as if the game is taking place in a large hall.
According to a Twitter user with the handle kirisamemofo, this audio is the result of an attempt to create an artificial stereo effect, and if placed in audio editing software and converted back to mono, it sounds like it would in any other emulator.
Apparently, Sonic Origins Plus has been leaked!

In addition to Amy and her Super Form, we now have a look at the Game Gear games in action and...

Reaction to the audio on YouTube has been largely negative, with some fans suggesting that previous Game Gear re-releases, such as the 2004 Sonic Gems Collection, had better sound quality. Other users seem to pay less attention to the audio issue and are simply happy to be able to play Game Gear games on a modern system.
