At IFA 2022, they showed MarsCat, a cuddly robot cat that senses touch, responds to voices, and plays with toys
The other day in Berlin the traditional technology exhibition IFA was launched. Usually participants from China delight us with a large number of unusual inventions, but this time, because of the pandemic, there are not so many of them. Although there are some interesting exhibits.
Here's What We've Seen
IFA 2022 featured two robots in the form of cats. The first one is MarsCat from Elephant Robotics. It is an electronic pet that will not replace a real pet, but it might be a good toy. It's based on a Raspberry Pi, with two screens acting as eyes. MarsCat can feel and respond to touch, recognize voices, and play with toys. His "emotions" change depending on how you treat him.
It is still unclear when the robot will be available for sale.
It is accompanied by Maicat from Korea. The toy is controlled by artificial intelligence, responds to its owners and likes to be stroked. The robot has only three hours of operation per charge, but it goes to a recharging station by itself.
It's expected to hit the market by the end of the year, with a retail price of about $1,500.
