Almost 2.5 times cheaper: the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $502
Counterpoint Research analysts like to count other people's money, so they decided to calculate the cost of one of the top smartphones - iPhone 15 Pro Max. As it turned out, this year the production of gadgets costs Apple more than last year.
Here's What It Costs
So, the production cost of the iPhone 15 Pro Max version with 8/256 GB of memory is $502. And this is despite the fact that the official price is almost 2.5 times more than $1199. But do not hurry to be indignant, because this is only the total cost of components, without taking into account the costs of development, assembly, transport, advertising, etc.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max parts went up by $37.7 (or 8%) compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. 3 components made it more expensive to produce: the 3-nanometre A17 Pro chip, a new 5x zoom telephoto lens system based on tetraprism, and a titanium frame.
But there are also parts that Apple was able to save money on: memory and display prices fell this year.
On top of that, analysts noted that the iPhone 15 lineup featured more proprietary components. In the iPhone 14 Pro Max they were 22%, and in the iPhone 15 Pro Max - 25%.
