Cordyceps takes over your gadgets: Google has a Google Easterly homage to the premiere of The Last of Us

Lately, all we hear is talk about the release of The Last of Us, which is based on the video game of the same name. Google didn't miss the premiere, either, and has added a passphrase to its search engine in honor of it.

Here's How It Works

When you type the phrase "The Last of Us" into the search bar, a small mushroom icon appears at the bottom. When you click on it, the gadget screen begins to take over the cordyceps, the mushroom that caused the zombie apocalypse in The Last of Us world. The more you click on the image of the mushroom, the more it grows.

The mushroom works on both smartphones and computers.

Flashback

The Last of Us is an HBO television series that premiered Jan. 15 on HBO Max. It tells the story of a former construction worker and now a smuggler escorting a teenage girl to safety across the post-apocalyptic United States after a pandemic that turns people into zombies. The project's first episode was watched by 4.7 million viewers on its first day, the second highest total since 2010 after "Dragon House."
