Journey to the World of Gods and Heroes: Disney Plus' "Percy Jackson" series trailer has been released, revealing the launch date
Meet the magical blend of ancient Greek mythology and the modern world in the new trailer for the series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" on the Disney Plus platform! The first trailer for this highly anticipated series has been released, and it instantly immerses us in the world of ancient Greek myths, as well as announcing the release date of the series.
Here's What We Know
"Those stories I told you about Greek gods and half-bloods.... They were real," comes a voiceover from the trailer as we watch a variety of mythical creatures - including a satyr and a mysterious, frighteningly horned creature.
Based on Rick Riordan's favourite book series, the series will tell the story of 12-year-old demigod Percy (the role went to Walker Scobell), the son of water god Poseidon, who is accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt. Suddenly thrown out of his ordinary life into the world of Greek mythology, Percy finds himself at Camp Half-Blood, a summer camp for other young demigods. Helping him on his exciting adventures are his best friends Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr played by Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri.
The Percy Jackson books, officially known as the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles, were adapted into two films, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in 2010 and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013. The films were criticised for not being faithful to the original novels, but the new TV show promises to be more faithful to the source material.
When We Can Expect It
According to the trailer, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" will be available on Disney Plus on 20 December this year.
