Six years after the last film, the first trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been released, which hints at conflicts between the ape clans
The first trailer for the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes film has been released. The premiere is scheduled for spring 2024.
Here's What We Know
The trailer shows how close the new film will be to the story of the first film released in the 60s, where apes rule the planet.
The events of the film unfold many years after the last part of the franchise "War for the Planet of the Apes". The apes have become the ruling species, while humanity is now living a secretive lifestyle reminiscent of the one that astronaut George Taylor stumbled upon in 1968 when he landed on Planet of the Apes. A brief trailer hints at possible conflicts between the ape clans and an unexpected alliance with a human girl.
The film's official synopsis reads, "While a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape embarks on a long journey that will force him to question everything he has known about the past and make choices that will determine the future - for apes and humans alike."
The film's cast includes William H. Macy, Freya Allan from "The Witcher," Peter Macon from "The Orville" and Dichen Lachman.
"Maze Runner" screenwriter Wes Ball has taken the director's chair for this film.
The original Planet of the Apes film, based on a 1963 French novel, was released in 1968 and four sequels followed.
Tim Burton directed the remake in 2001, and the current reboot of the series began in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It was followed by "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in 2014 and "War for the Planet of the Apes" in 2017.
When We Can Expect It
"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" will be released on May 24, 2024.
