On November 10, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was fully released. However, those who pre-ordered the game were able to complete the storyline campaign on 2 November, but neither critics nor players were happy with the new part and called it one of the worst in the series' history. This is even evidenced by the scores on OpenCritic, where the game received only 53 points out of 100 from critics. But this failure could be caused by the fact that very little time was allocated for development.

Here's What We Know

Jason Schreier published an article that reveals more details about the development of MW III. Most Call of Duty games are developed for about three years, but Modern Warfare III was made in less than a year and a half.

Initially, the game was planned only as a supplement to Modern Warfare II. And while an Activision spokesperson says that MW III was intended to be a "premium game" from the start, Call of Duty developers have said that this contradicts what they were told.

Aaron Halon, head of Sledgehammer Games, said in an interview that some developers may have thought the new CoD was DLC because it was a "new type of sequel". Although it is unclear how this is a "new type" if absolutely no one liked the story.

Some Sledgehammer developers said that they felt betrayed by the company, as they were promised that after the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, which was also made in a short period of time, they would not have to go through a similar ordeal again.

Where To Play

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is available on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series, and Xbox One.
