Final Fantasy XIV is more popular than ever: the game director of the famous MMORPG announced a record number of players after the release of Dawntrail expansion
On 2 July 2024, the Dawntrail expansion for the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV was released.
It attracted a lot of attention and, as it turned out, allowed the game to set its own record.
Here's What We Know
Final Fantasy XIV game director Naoki Yoshida shared the impressive achievement in a post on the game's website. It turned out that immediately after the release of Dawntrail in the game recorded a record number of simultaneous users, but the developer did not specify their number.
Naoki Yoshida noted that Final Fantasy XIV has not seen such an influx of players since the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013 (remember, the first version of the game failed miserably and soon A Realm Reborn was released - almost a newly created version of FFXIV, which fixed most of the problems of the first version of the MMORPG).
Thanks to your support, we were able to attract a record number of concurrent users that we haven't seen since A Realm Reborn was released in 2013.
Probably not the least role in the increased popularity of Final Fantasy XIV was played by its release on Xbox a few months ago.
The game director noted that his team has no plans to stop on the achieved results and will continue to improve Final Fantasy XIV, as after the expansion release some technical issues were discovered in the game - they will be fixed in the nearest patches.
