Helldivers 2 developers tell more about Warbonds, supercredits, and Superstore
Arrowhead Game Studios' Helldivers 2 is due out next week, and while the studio has confirmed the game's microtransactions, it claims to be introducing a unique approach to battle passes and premium currency with Warbonds, as revealed by the game's deputy director, Sagar Beroshi.
Here's What We Know
Warbonds offer "several pages of unlockable content", and premium versions are available for super credits that can be obtained for real money or earned in-game by "exploring interesting places" during missions. The initial Warbond, Helldivers Mobilise, will be free for all players, while Steeled Veterans is a premium Warbond.
Once a Warbond is obtained, medals earned from missions, operations, quests, and research are used to unlock new items. Unlike a regular combat pass, Warbonds do not disappear. Equipment in Warbonds is accumulated, and previous versions will not be removed when new ones appear, allowing players to pick them up and supplement them at their convenience.
Of course, there is also a supermarket where you can spend super credits on armour sets that change regularly.
Where To Play
Helldivers 2 will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
When We Can Expect It
The game is scheduled for release on the 8th of February.
