The US Air Force and Raytheon conducted the first test of the newest AIM-120 AMRAAM missile. An F-15C Eagle fighter jet was used for the launch.

Tests of the AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missile took place in the summer. The F-15C Eagle fighter jet was able to successfully launch the munition. Raytheon Company states that all of the primary objectives of the flight test were met.
AMRAAM is a battle-tested missile. It is in service in more than 40 countries. The C-8 version was developed under the Form, Fit, Function Refresh (F3R) programme. It has a maximum launch range of 180 kilometres.
Raytheon recently received $1.15bn from the US Air Force to produce the AIM-120C-8 and AIM-120D-3 (US version). Nineteen countries are customers of the most advanced version of the AMRAAM aircraft missile.
