In the coming years, Ukraine will receive the most advanced AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM aircraft missiles with a maximum launch range of 180 kilometres
In the second half of this decade, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive the most advanced version of the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile. This is reported by the company-producer Raytheon.
Here's What We Know
Now the United States supplies Ukraine with old versions of the AIM-120 AMRAAM. They are used in NASAMS air defence systems to counter Russian cruise missiles and drones.
At the same time, Raytheon is ramping up production of the missiles by about half. This is due to the fact that due to Russia's war against Ukraine, the U.S. stockpile of aircraft missiles has been significantly reduced.
Raytheon tested the AIM-120D-3 some time ago. The international variant is called AIM-120C-8. In the summer, the company launched the missile for the first time. F-15C Eagle fighter aircraft took part in the tests.
The capabilities of the new missile demonstrate the outstanding ability of the AIM-120C-8 to fulfil its mission in the most stressful conditions. This was stated by Paul Ferraro, president of the Air Power division at Raytheon.
