Boeing gets $191 million to produce ScanEagle and Blackjack drones for the U.S. Navy and an unknown customer

The United States Navy wants more Blackjack and ScanEagle drones.

Here's What We Know

Production of drones will be done by the American company Boeing, or rather its subsidiary Insitu. The cost of the contract is $191 million. Deliveries of drones must be completed by early summer of 2026.

The US Navy, Marine Corps and an unknown foreign buyer will be operating ScanEagle and Blackjack. Under the contract, Insitu will produce 13 Blackjack drones and 25 ScanEagle drones.

Both UAVs provide aerial reconnaissance and can be used to correct artillery fire. The Blackjack is capable of speeds up to 170 km/h and has a cruising speed of 100 km/h. Operating time without recharge is 16 hours. The ScanEagle runs 8-10 hours longer and is able to fly 100 km. The maximum speed is 139 km/h.
