Northrop Grumman will create for the Pentagon a VTOL drone capable of flying up to 20 hours and carrying a payload weighing 27kg

The US Department of Defence's Advanced Research Projects Agency has found a company that will create an unmanned aerial vehicle with vertical take-off and landing. It became the defence contractor Northrop Grumman.

Here's What We Know

The US company will create a cost-effective drone demonstrator that will not depend on a runway and additional infrastructure. The project has been given the long name AdvaNced airCraft Infrastructure-Less Launch And RecoverY (ANCILLARY).

The multi-purpose drone will be targeted at the US Navy. It will be able to take off and land on ship decks in all weather conditions. The drone should fly for 20 hours and will have a range of 185 kilometres. The maximum payload weight will reach 27kg.

The Northrop Grumman drone will not be used for strikes. Its purpose will be surveillance, reconnaissance, reconnaissance, fire control and transport of supplies.
