Pentagon: New aid package will include high-precision shells that the U.S. has not sent to Ukraine before

Yesterday US President Joe Biden The Pentagon confirmed the transfer of four more HIMARS and high-precision artillery shells to Ukraine. The US Department of Defense has told us what will be included in this package.

Already waiting

So, Ukraine will receive something the U.S. hasn't sent before - 1,000 high-precision 155 millimeter artillery shells.

"This is a new type of 155mm artillery ammunition," a senior Defense Department official said during a briefing at the Pentagon. - It has greater accuracy. It offers Ukraine an accurate ... ability to hit specific targets. It will save ammunition. It will be more effective through accuracy. It's a further development of our support for Ukraine in this battle in the Donbass."

These projectiles are designed for use in howitzer artillery systems already available in Ukraine. They are used by the U.S. military and are available in their own stockpile. The systems are new in that it is the first time the United States is sending them to Ukraine.

Recall that the new aid package also includes four additional HIMARS MLRS, ammunition for them, tactical vehicles, explosive ordnance, battery system counters and spare parts.
