Textron Systems has prototyped a new Cottonmouth ARV 6×6 reconnaissance vehicle for the U.S. Army with a Browning M2HB machine gun and FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank system
American industrial conglomerate Textron Systems announced the completion of development of a prototype of the new Cottonmouth ARV 6×6 reconnaissance vehicle.
Here's What We Know
This is stated in the manufacturer's press release. Prototype of the final version of the vehicle was created in just four months. Prior to this year the company worked on the design and other prototypes of the car. By the way, Cottonmouth ARV 6×6 is created specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps. It plans to buy 500 of these reconnaissance vehicles to replace the LAV-25. The amount of the deal is $6.8 billion.
The vehicle boasts a Kongsberg Protector RS4-J combat module with a 12.7mm Browning M2HB heavy machine gun and FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank launcher. The combat unit can be controlled remotely. The first production sample Cottonmouth ARV 6×6 is due out in 2024.
