In 8 months Russia lost almost 2.5 times more planes in Ukraine than the USSR lost in 10 years of the war in Afghanistan

The number of Russian planes destroyed in Ukraine is approaching three hundred. This is much more than the Soviet Union lost in Afghanistan.

Here's What We Know

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, since February 24, the Russian army has lost 278 aircraft in the war against Ukraine, which means that on average the Russian air force fleet is reduced by one aircraft daily.

Just over eight months have passed since the large-scale invasion of Ukraine. But Russia has already lost about 2.5 times as many aircraft as the Soviet Union lost during the 10-year war in Afghanistan (118 aircraft). Moreover, more than ten planes were destroyed even without the participation of the Russian Armed Forces.
