Two European fourth-generation Eurofighter Typhoon fighters arrived in Kuwait under a contract for the purchase of 28 aircraft

The Kuwaiti Air Force received two more Eurofighter Typhoon fighters as part of a program to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.

Here's What We Know

Kuwait has ordered 28 aircraft. With the new delivery the total number of fighters will increase to six. Thus, the Armed Forces is left with 22 more Eurofighter Typhoons.

The Italian Air Force was involved in the delivery of the fighters to Kuwait. The service trained pilots and personnel and provided two KC-767A tankers to refuel the planes in the air during the flight.

Flashback

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European fourth-generation fighter that entered service in 2003. The aircraft is produced by Eurofighter GmbH. It can reach speeds of up to 2,450 km/h (M=2.3) at altitude and 1,400 km/h (M=1.2) near the ground. The range is approximately 1,400 km in fighter mode and 600 km in attack aircraft mode.

Eurofighter Typhoon can climb to an altitude of 20 km with a climb rate of 315 m/s. The cannon armament of the aircraft is represented by a Mauser VK-27 cannon. The maximum weight of the combat load is 7,500 kg. The fighter can carry air-to-air missiles (AIM-9 Sidewinder, AIM-132 ASRAAM, AIM-120 AMRAAM), air-to-ground missiles (AGM-84 Harpoon, AGM-88 HARM, ALARM, Storm Shadow, Brimstone, Taurus, Penguin) and bombs (Paveway 2, Paveway 3, Enhanced Paveway, JDAM, HOPE/HOSBO).
