The Naval Group announced the Porte Avion Nouvelle Generation (PANG) nuclear-powered aircraft carrier at the Euronaval 2022 naval exhibition.

Here's What We Know

The French company unveiled a mock-up of the aircraft carrier. The combat version will be equipped with a power plant with two nuclear reactors. According to the manufacturer, the PANG will be able to operate for ten years without the need to reload nuclear fuel.

The ship will have a displacement of 75,000 tons, a width of 85 meters and a length of 310 meters. The aircraft carrier will be built at Porte Avions. Naval Group intends to test the PANG in 2036.

The new nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will be able to carry 32 next-generation fighters, three E-2D Hawkeye long-range radar detection aircraft and drones. The crew strength will be 2,000.

PANG will replace the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle. The Navy will receive a new ship in 2037, and a year later it will be put into service.
