Samsung Unveils Exynos 2200: Flagship Processor with AMD Graphics for Galaxy S22 Smartphones
Samsung, after half a year of rumors and leaks, nevertheless introduced its new flagship Exynos 2200 processor.
What is known
Like Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the novelty is built on a 4-nanometer process technology. SoC received eight cores with a three-cluster system: one core Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710s and four Cortex-A510s. The company does not disclose the frequency of the cores, but if you believe the leaks, the maximum figure is 2.8 GHz.
As for the GPU, the Xclipse 920 graphics accelerator based on AMD RDNA2. He can manage 4K-120Hz displays and 144Hz QHD+ displays. The accelerator includes hardware ray tracing and VRS (Variable Rate Shading). VRS offers game developers a way to reduce rendering speed in frames where there is less change. In addition, the chipset has AMIGO (Advanced Multi-IP Governor) for power efficiency.
The Exynos 2200 adds support for LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, a new dual-core NPU for AI processing, and a slightly improved IPS module for image processing. It still supports cameras up to 200MP and is capable of capturing 108MP images at 30fps. Naturally, the chip was equipped with a new 5G modem and modules Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC.
When to expect
Exynos 2200 debuts in the flagship line of Galaxy S22 smartphones. Recall that the devices must present February 8.
