Microsoft's decision to swallow Activision Blizzard has created a huge devastating wave in the already not-so-calm ocean of the gaming industry. And the first victim was Sony, which has already lost 12.8% of the value of its shares, which is $ 20 billion per second.
This is the biggest drop in shares since 2008, when it had to recall more than 100,000 laptop batteries. Analysts say such a precedent is a wake-up call for shareholders.
"It will be difficult for Sony to keep up with Microsoft over the money it can spend on popular gaming intellectual property. - Kazunori Ito, analyst at Morningstar Research
