Better late than never: Microsoft started updating Surface Duo to Android 11
Microsoft, two years after the announcement of the foldable Surface Duo smartphone, released the first major system update for it.
What is known
We are talking about Android 11 firmware. The system came out with an assembly number 2021.1027.156 and the January security patch. In addition, all the main innovations of this version of the green robot, as well as several proprietary functions, have been added to the software. For example, support for Xbox Game Pass, quick launch of OneNote using the Surface Slim Pen 2 stylus, the ability to edit and view photos in OneDrive, and much more. The full list of innovations is available on the official website of the company.
When to expect
The update has already begun rolling out to devices in North America and Europe.
By the way, Android 11 is not the last major update for Surface Duo. Microsoft, after the release of new items in 2020, promised to update the device within three years. Therefore, the device must still receive at least Android 12.
