Epic Games will continue to give away free games and improve its store in 2022
One of the unique features of the Epic Games Store is the regular free distribution of games. The company confirmed in a blog post that it will continue to give away games in 2022. Some of the games that were offered last year were quite remarkable. Control, Tomb Rider Trilogy, A Plague Tale: Innocence and more. So we should expect that this year the company will continue to distribute good games.
2021 has been an important year for EGS. The number of games available on the Epic Store has almost doubled since the end of 2020 to 917 now. And the number of users has grown to 194 million, up 34 million from 2020. In-store spending in 2021 rose to $840 million, up 20% from 2020.
After the highly anticipated addition of the shopping cart in December, EGS also promises that it will continue to add new features to the store. Pending updates include features that allow players to prioritize downloads and improve the speed and performance of the Epic Games Launcher.
"We've received a lot of feedback from players about library and download management, and we're going to actively improve this next year," the company said. "This includes the ability to prioritize and queue selected games for download, additional options to help you filter and organize your library."
This week's free game is Daemon X Machina, a mechanical action game that you can get it from January 27th to February 3rd.
The Epic Games Store Lunar New Year Sale has also kicked off with up to 75% off and an extra $10 coupon on any purchase over $15. The sale will last until February 10th. More details in our recent material.
