Rumors: Star Wars Eclipse draws inspiration from The Last of Us, and the development process is in a difficult position
One of the biggest surprises of last year was the announcement of a new Star Wars game from Paris-based Quantic Dream studio Star Wars Eclipse. She was unveiled at The Game Awards with a cinematic trailer that takes place in the Star Wars universe during the era of the High Republic.
Given the large project associated with such an iconic franchise as Star Wars, rumors and leaks about the game could not help but spread. Some of the most common rumors about the game are about what goes on behind the scenes, and many of them point to the developers' ambitions to create a massive and quality game. Insiders claim that this is why Star Wars Eclipse will not be released in the coming years.
The other day, the AccountNGT insider, who talked about the release of the future Star Wars Eclipse a week before the announcement, published both known and new details about the project.
- Star Wars Eclipse is an open-world action-adventure game with an emphasis on interactive storytelling
- Montreal division of Quantic Dream working on multiplayer, gameplay and level design
- The Paris division is working on the story, videos, art design
- Multiplayer mode, apparently, will be competitive
- Non-linear storyline and more playable characters than any other Quantic Dream project
- Development started at the beginning of last year and is proceeding heavily. This is especially true for hiring employees.
- The Last of Us was the main inspiration, but the combat system will be in the spirit of Jedi Fallen Order
- Traditional action gameplay (Jedi Fallen Order-like for combat to have an example)

- A mix of story and gameplay (The Last Of Us took as an inspiration)
- Quantic Dream Montreal are working on gameplay prototypes
- They have difficulty hiring staff
According to an insider about the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse, the game will feature multiple playable characters and a non-linear storyline. The main story is still being written, which is a testament to how early Quantic Dream is in development. This is likely helped by Quantic Dream's still having trouble hiring staff, according to AccNGT.
Star Wars: Eclipse is currently in development for PC and consoles.
