Gourmet: Apple to launch entry-level MacBook Pro with M2 chip this year, but without ProMotion
In his latest issue of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revisited what's new with Apple for 2022. Among them is the entry-level MacBook Pro laptop, which will replace the model from the M1, released in November 2020.
What to expect?
According to Gurman's forecast, in order to distinguish the new product from the powerful fellow MacBook Pro, presented in October, the manufacturer is likely to put the display, processor and storage under the knife, that is, they will have slightly simplified characteristics. In addition, the MacBook Pro will lose the Touch Bar. Thus, the MacBook Pro 13 will be the last model with a touch bar instead of physical keys.
In total, at least four devices with the M2 chip are expected this year. These include the above-described MacBook Pro,
“I expect the new entry-level MacBook Pro to match the high-end MacBook Pro by losing the Touch Bar, but the key differences will be smaller displays, processors and storage, and the absence of ProMotion or miniLED. It will be one of many Macs with the M2 chip under development, including updates for
24 inch iMac, entry-level Mac mini and updated MacBook Air,” says Mark Gurman.
