Unexpectedly: Google introduced Android 13 Developer Preview

Google, four months after the release of the stable version of Android 12, announced the next version of the "green robot" for developers.

What is known

The firmware was released with the name Android 13 Developer Preview 1 and received many small but useful changes.

Improved Material You themes, a new system photo picker, as well as additional buttons in the quick settings panel were installed in the software: for switching the operating mode with one hand, color correction and launching the built-in QR code scanner.

From the innovation, they also added the ability to display up to 6 icons in the taskbar for devices with large screens. The developers also changed the interface for selecting the output playback device. The volume slider has become larger and prettier.

Of the interesting things, it is also worth noting the ability to turn on the flashlight by double-tapping the back of the smartphone, set the application language, and also select the list of programs for guest mode users.

When to expect

Android 13 Developer Preview 1 is now available for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 XL, and Pixel 4 owners. Google plans to release another developer firmware, as well as four Beta - software versions. The final release of the system will take place in late summer or early autumn.
