Company Boston Dynamics released an updated version of the robotic dog spot. The device received color cameras, a more efficient computing unit for machine vision and supports fifth-generation networks.

What is known

In the new spot five pairs of stereo cameras are still installed to form 3D- maps with depth information, but now they are in color. According to the manufacturer, this does not improve the efficiency of the robot in any way, but it will make it easier for the operator and third-party software to navigate.

For driving spot a new controller is provided, equipped with an 8 ”screen with touch control support. It has both virtual and mechanical buttons. The body is water resistant. The display is also equipped with a power adapter for the robot. With it, you can monitor the level of battery charge.

To spot you can buy an external module Spot Core I/O, which includes NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX. The microcircuit has a powerful graphics chip and a 6-core processor on the architecture ARM. The module is designed to work with machine vision and is equipped with a modem board that supports networks 5G.

Recall Boston Dynamics while selling robots only to other companies. The cost of one robotic dog is more than $70,000.
