Kuo: not only iPhone 15, but AirPods, MagSafe Battery Pack and other Apple accessories will also switch to USB-C
The European Union is about to pass a law that will oblige all gadget manufacturers to use a single connector for charging and data transfer - USB-C. Therefore, Apple seems to still have to abandon Lightning in favor of USB-C.
What to expect?
Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple plans to release at least one iPhone 15 model with a USB-C port in 2023. But the iPhone 14 will still use Lightning.
Also, according to the analyst, the new connector will be not only for smartphones. For the "foreseeable future," accessories such as AirPods, the MagSafe Battery Pack, and the Magic Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad trio will also move to USB-C.
1. Portless iPhone may cause more problems due to current limitations of wireless technologies & the immature MagSafe ecosystem.

2. Other Lightning port products (e.g., AirPods, Magic Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse, MagSafe Battery) would also switch to USB-C in the foreseeable future. https://t.co/KD14TgBmtr
Moving to USB-C will create a more universal standard for connectivity and satisfy regulators.
Kuo also suggested that it's too early for Apple to release an iPhone without a port due to current wireless technology limitations and the immaturity of Apple's own MagSafe wireless accessory ecosystem.
