British armored vehicles Alvis 4 with mine protection arrived in Ukraine

The Armed Forces of Ukraine received a consignment of British Alvis 4 armored vehicles from Estonia.

What is known?

The Alvis 4 looks like a regular and at the same time bulky armored personnel carrier. However, the machine was designed as a solution for operations in mined areas. The armored personnel carrier has mine protection, provided with an armored lower part with inclined plates, which are responsible for repelling the impact in the event of a mine explosion.

The upper part is made of steel. It is resistant to both small arms and ammunition debris. The car also has armored windows, and a machine gun can be installed on the roof of the Alvis 4. The military enters through the back door.

The exact characteristics of the machine are not reported. Alvis 4 has previously been deployed in South Africa and Kosovo. Ukraine received seven units of armored vehicles.
