Opening a Facebook office in Ukraine and blocking Azov in social networks: Fedorov spoke about the meeting with the president of Meta
Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov met with the President of Global Affairs of Meta (formerly Facebook) Nick Clegg.
What was discussed?
The main topic of the talks was the question of changing the approach of Meta, which owns the social networks Facebook and Instagram, to content moderation in wartime.
“Today’s work is not in favor of Ukrainian users and media: we publish the truth about the war on the Meta platforms – we are blocked due to violations of the platform’s policy, coverage drops significantly, and there are also many cases of blocking truthful content. We also know that the Azov Regiment is listed as a banned organization in Meta. But it has nothing to do with neo-Nazism. This happened due to the actions of Russian propaganda, ”the Ministry of Digital Development notes.
Therefore, we hope that in the future there will be fewer blockings so that what is happening in Ukraine is covered more reliably.
In addition, Fedorov and Clegg formed strategic plans for cooperation: opening a Meta representative office in Ukraine, fighting on the information front, supporting the UNITED24 platform, etc.
