ASUS reveals it's first SSD ROG Strix SQ7

A month ago, ASUS hinted that it was going to release its first M.2 NVMe SSD, which will be called the ROG Strix SQ7. Now, the Taiwanese manufacturer has finally shared the technical specs of its debut SSD.

The drive will be based on the Phison E18 controller with PCIe 4.0 x4 support. The company has clarified that it will use 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips in the ROG Strix SQ7. To be more precise, the SSD uses 176-layer 3D TLC NAND memory made by Micron. The OG Strix SQ7 will also receive DDR4 cache.

ASUS ROG Strix SQ7 is the flagship model. It will provide sequential read speeds up to 7000 MB / s, and sequential write speeds up to 6000 MB / s. ROG Strix SQ7 supports TCG Opal and AES-256 encryption for security. The package of new items will also include software Backup Now EZ 5, which is a comprehensive solution for data backup. The manufacturer also mentioned the compatibility of ROG Strix SQ7 with PlayStation 5 game consoles.

No word on pricing or retail availability, only 1 TB model listed at the moment.
