The newest versions of Apple's main operating systems, which power its phones, tablets, watches, and PCs, were introduced yesterday at WWDC. The following are the devices that will be upgraded to the new version.

iOS 16

The iOS 16 update adds widgets to the lock screen, enhanced notifications, and new functionality to Messages. Apple Wallet support for managing digital IDs and Pay Later is included in this version of iOS. There's also Always On Display, which will be available on the iPhone 14 from 2022. The iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X from 2017 and later models are supported. This implies that certain older handsets that ran version 15 - such as the iPhone 6s (from 2015) and iPhone 7 - are no longer supported.

iPadOS 16

The biggest change with iPadOS 16 is the ability to multitask more effectively, with full support for external displays on M1-powered iPads. In addition to that, Mail and Safari have new collaboration tools, and the Weather app has appeared on Apple's tablets with other improvements. The new version supports all iPad Pro versions, iPad Airs (3rd generation and later), original iPad (5th generation and later) and iPad mini (5th gen and latter). When compared to iOS 15, this eliminates support for the iPad Air 2 (from 2014; approximately 8 years old now) as well as the iPad mini 4 (2015).

watchOS 9

Keep in mind that watchOS 9 requires an iPhone 8/X or later, even if you have the most recent Apple Watch. The Series 4 and subsequent versions of the Apple Watch are supported, as well as the SE. Support for the Series 3 was discontinued after version 3.2.

macOS Ventura

macOS Ventura will work on both Intel and Apple M powered desktop and laptop computers, starting with 2017 models of MacBook (Pro) and iMac (Pro).
