Apple iPhone 14 will get upgraded front camera with autofocus

Apple's next iPhone is anticipated to be released in September. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the new phones will include the most significant front camera upgrade since the iPhone 11. For the first time in Apple's history, the selfie shooter will have auto-focus, moving away from the FF solution. It'll also come with a 6P lens and a bright f/1.9 aperture.

Switching to auto focus will expand the usefulness of the front camera, since people are relying more and more on it for both formal video calls and goofy dances on social media. Genius will be the main supplier of the lens, while LG Innotek and Cowell will make the CCM (CMOS camera module). Sony will again manufacture the sensor, according to Kuo. There is no indication whether it will be any different from Sony's current 12MP modules. However, even without changing anything, having a better lens and proper auto-focus sounds like a substantial improvement.
