Square Enix has made another investment in cloud gaming
Square Enix believes that cloud technology will only grow, so he periodically invests money there. This time the publishing house made a deal with the company Blacknut - she manages the eponymous service with streaming solutions for business and users.
The agreement is described as a "strategic investment", but the amount of the investment is not disclosed. According to Blacknut, funds will be spent on research and development of technological solutions, accelerating the growth of service in the market and the catalog of games.
Blacknut opened in 2016 and offers to pay $ 15.99 per month for unlimited access to the cloud library of more than 500 games. Among the most notable projects in the company's arsenal are - Saints Row IV, Lynx: Son of Rome, Metro 2033 Redux, Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun and Asphalt 9. Service Blacknut available in 45 countries, works on PCs, smartphones, smart TVs and browsers, and offers special conditions for business if someone wants to use the technology for alternative purposes.
Square Enix has been interested in cloud gaming for many years. Back in 2014, the company launched the platform Shinra Technologies - It was intended not for ordinary streaming, but for gaming calculations, possible only in the "cloud". But in 2016 Shinra Technologies closed due to lack of interest from investors.
According to analysts, in 2021, cloud gaming in general should have earned more than 1.6% of 23.7 million users. When Square Enix sold a huge chunk of his Western business to the Embracer Group, then mentioned that he wanted to invest the money raised, including in cloud gaming.
