Spotify has begun to provide real-time lyrics on the Nest Hub
According to a report from 9to5Google, Spotify has quietly added real-time lyrics support for the Google Nest Hub. The feature, which is already available on iOS, Android, gaming consoles, desktop computers, and select smart TVs, allows you to listen to music on Spotify while seeing a stream of lyrics that advance with the song.
A number of users — including the folks at 9to5Google — have claimed to notice real-time lyrics on their Nest Hub devices, despite the fact that Spotify has yet to make an official announcement. When you choose a song, tap the lyrics icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen to activate it. The video below shows how it works.
Spotify initially offered real-time lyrics to users in specific countries located in South America, Central America, and Asia. Last November, the service expanded worldwide, giving everyone the opportunity to karaoke or learn the lyrics of a new song. Although Musixmatch delivers real-time lyrics, Spotify previously collaborated with Genius for its "Behind the Lyrics" product, which has now been discontinued in favor of real-time lyrics.
The Amazon Echo Show and Meta Portal already provide a karaoke-friendly function that allows you to display album art and real-time song lyrics from Amazon Music. While YouTube Music added a lyrics feature for Android, iOS, and the web in 2020, the lyrics don't change with the song, forcing you to scroll manually through them as you listen. This functionality does not appear to be available on the Nest Hub yet.
