Joint work of the AFU and the SBU: Ukrainian defenders shot down two Russian Su-25 planes with MANPADs
According to the SBU, Ukrainian defenders shot down two Russian Su-25 planes in the Zaporizhzhya direction. They tried to attack our positions near the Orekhov and Stepnoye settlements. But our soldiers accurately engaged the enemy using MANPADs. As a result, one of the planes was destroyed and the other was shot down. By the way, the operation was conducted by the Ukrainian armed forces together with the SBU special unit Alfa.
Recall that Su-25 is single-seat armored attack aircraft , designed to provide air support in the combat zone by day and night with visual target visibility. The Su-25 can be used to engage ground and surface targets as well as helicopters and transport aircraft. The Su-25 first entered service in 1981. Since then, it has received numerous modifications.
