The next-gen PlayStation VR is slowly but surely getting closer to release. In PlayStation Blog a Sony employee has shared fresh details about PS VR2 features.
- In the headset, you will be able to see the surrounding world through the front cameras - you will not have to remove the helmet to, for example, find the controllers. This function works only for viewing - you cannot record video from the camera.
- By connecting an HD camera to the PS5, you can record yourself while playing in VR.
- The game zone in the room can be configured using controllers and built-in cameras. If you get close to the set boundaries during the game, you will receive a corresponding warning. The settings will be saved until you move to another game area.
- PS VR2 will offer two image output modes:
- VR mode. The content is displayed in a virtual space with a 360-degree view. The video format is 4000×2040 HDR (2000×2040 per eye) with a refresh rate of 90 or 120 Hz.
- Cinematic mode. It allows you to explore the PS5 menu, as well as non-VR game and media content on a virtual theater screen. The image format is 1920 × 1080 HDR with a refresh rate of 24/60/120 Hz.
The release date of the PlayStation VR2 and the expanded list of games for the device will be revealed at a later date.
