The authors of Life is Strange: True Colors are not going to release the next game based on the episodes
Life is Strange: True Colors is the first game in the series to be released all at once, rather than gradually as separate episodes. In the future, the authors of the Deck Nine incident also plan to release entire games.
Phillip Lowrence, a senior narrative designer, told Rock Paper Shotgun .
"I can't imagine we're going back to an episodic model. The response to Trute Colors has been very positive. We kept the episodic structure because players liked it - that's a feature of Life is Strange. But we had a long discussion about abandoning the episodic distribution model, and after thinking about it, we made the right decision, in my opinion."
Although True Colors was not released in parts, it is still divided into episodes in the middle of the game itself. According to Lawrence, this transition allowed the developers to take their time when creating each episode and allowed gamers to get through the game at their own pace without having to wait for the next installment.
When to expect a new Life is Strange (and whether to expect at all) - it is not clear. The developer will probably be Deck Nine again, rather than the franchise writers from DON'T NOD.
