Iron Dome shot down 97% of the 580 rockets launched from the Gaza Strip, the highest rate in the history of the air defense system
The Iron Dome air defense system continues to demonstrate its effectiveness.
What we know
From August 5 to 7, the Iron Dome shot down 97% of the 580 rockets launched from the Gaza Strip. That is the highest elimination rate of enemy rockets in the history of the air defense system.
It came to Israel's defense in 2011. At that time, the system shot down 85% of the rockets launched. A year later, the effectiveness of Iron Dome was increased to 90%.
It should be noted that such an air defense system would not save Ukraine from missiles like the Kalibr, Iskander or Kinzhal, but it could protect frontline cities from multiple rocket launchers. However, Israel has no plans to transfer or sell the Iron Dome to Ukraine.
Each battery, at a cost of $50 million, consists of 3-4 launchers, each containing 20 Tamir missiles. This means that the battery can shoot down 60-80 rockets at 100% accuracy.
