The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive Vulcano high-precision projectiles.
What we know
This is reported by the Federal Government of Germany. The AFU will receive 225 such shells. They will be purchased for Ukraine by Germany together with the EU.
For those who do not know
Vulcano is a family of high-precision projectiles developed by the Italian company OTO Melara. They are produced in two versions. The basic one is called Vulcano BER (Ballistic Extended Range). These projectiles do not have a guidance module. They are capable of hitting targets at a distance of 50 km when fired from cannons with 52 caliber barrels.
The top version is called the Vulcano GLR. It features an INS/GPS targeting system with a semi-active laser guidance system. It is triggered at the last stage of flight. The Vulcano GLR projectiles can be used with Caesar, Krab or PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery units. Thanks to Vulcano GLR their range increases up to 70-80 km.
