South Korea unveiled a state-of-the-art Phantom interceptor boat with a machine gun and RCWS combat module
The Defense Acquisition Agency of South Korea(DAPA) has unveiled the HSIC (High Speed Interceptor Craft) class patrol boat.
Here's What We Know
The novelty is called Phantom. The boat is 20 meters long, 4 meters wide and weighs 20 tons. It is made of carbon fiber. This material is lighter than steel or aluminum.
The Phantom is capable of accelerating up to 60 knots. The maximum cruising range is 300 nautical miles. The Phantom has a crew of 12. The Phantom can carry up to 2 tons of payload. Apart from that the Phantom will have a high-speed rigid hull boat on board.
Weapons-wise, it will be equipped with a 7.62 mm machine gun and RCWS. The Phantom will be used for patrolling and transporting combat teams. It is not yet known when the boat will enter service in South Korea.
