Ingenuity made its first full-fledged flight in the atmosphere of Mars after a long break

The unmanned Ingenuity helicopter experiencing winter on Mars made its first full flight in nearly three months.

Due to intense dust storms, NASA has not used Ingenuity since June 11. On Aug. 20, the drone performed a so-called 2-meter jump to test the performance of systems and drop dust that had accumulated on the solar panels.

On September 6, the drone made its first full flight in the atmosphere of the Red Planet since June 11. Ingenuity covered almost 97 meters in 56 seconds. No failures in the operation of the device were recorded.

The purpose of creating Ingenuity was to check the possibility of flight due to the fact that the density of the atmosphere of Mars is 1% of the Earth's. But as we can see, everything works fine. This is the 31st flight of the Martian drone, although only five launches were planned.
