Rat tsunami, working with actors and the benefits of new generation consoles: A Plague Tale developers: Requiem shared details about the development

A podcast from the developers was released on Focus Entertainment's YouTube channel, where they discussed the process of creating A Plague Tale: Requiem and what changes the new generation consoles have made to the development.

Here's What We Know

First of all, the developers wanted to reach a new level, and not repeat the previous game. The team quickly mastered the new power and capabilities of the new generation consoles, which helped them add even more elements to the game to make the environment more interesting.

Much attention was paid to rats, they wanted to add 10 times more of them than in Innocence. At one point, the studio realized that they could even create a tsunami of rats and it worked. The rodents' artificial intelligence has improved. Now they are better at avoiding light and moving around.

Work with actors has also reached a new level. In the first game, the developers scanned only the actors' bodies, facial expressions had to be done manually. In Requiem, they were able to scan the body and face at once - this should add more emotion and make the game more lively. The developers also noted that all the actors played perfectly.

It is also important that Asobo Studio develops games on their own engine. This feature allows them to add new features and technologies quickly and not depend on anyone.

Flashback

Asobo Studio is already on the home stretch in the development of a direct sequel to A Plague Tale with the subtitle Requiem. Six months have passed in the game world since the events of Innocence. Amicia and Hugo head south in search of a new and peaceful life. But adventures caught up with the sister and brother again. Hugo's illness has worsened, and Amicia must go with him to a secret island that may hold the key to curing her younger brother. The world is becoming more cruel, distorted, and rats are only increasing. Along with this, weapons, tools, magic and variations of enemy destruction have increased.

When We Can Expect It

A Plague Tale: Requiem is scheduled for October 18 on XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
