Google may not return money to Russian users of Stadia due to sanctions

Residents of Russia, who managed to bypass access to the service Stadia, most likely will not get back the money spent on the games.

Here's What We Know

On Sept. 29, Google reserved a place for the cloud service Stadia in its graveyard of closed projects. It will go there on January 18, 2023. The company has promised to refund money spent on the purchase of games, add-ons and related devices through the Google Store and Stadia Store.

Refunds for most players will be completed by the middle of next year. But users who have subscribed Stadia Pro, will be able to continue to play until the expiration date.

Russians are unlikely to be able to return money spent on games and gamepads because of difficulties with money transfers from abroad. The reason is the sanctions, which significantly limit international transfers. Google representatives said that refunds were possible only under "normal circumstances".
