MediaTek introduced the Dimensity 1080: A 6-nanometer processor with support for cameras up to 200 MP
MediaTek has announced a new processor of the Dimensity line.
Here's What We Know
The chip was named Dimensity 1080. It is the successor of the Dimensity 920. SoC is also built on a 6-nanometer process. It received two ARM Cortex-A78 cores with a clock frequency of 2.6 GHz and six ARM-Cortex A55 cores with a frequency of up to 2 GHz. Also the novelty is equipped with a GPU Mali-G68 MC4 and 5G-modem.
The processor supports LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1. In addition, devices based on the new chip will be able to use modules up to 200 MP, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and FHD + displays with support for higher screen speeds up to 120 Hz.
When We Can Expect It
The first smartphones based on the Dimensity 1080 will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. The chip is planned to be installed in mid-range devices.
